This past year, a coaching experience shook me to my core. And so, it made me question everything—the value of coaching in general, my own coaching, and what I bring to people’s lives. I’ve had transformative coaching before—the kind that deeply changed my relationships. But this time, it was different. Instead of transformation, I felt drained, burned out, and full of self-doubt. It made me ask: Why is some coaching life-changing while other coaching leaves you questioning yourself?I needed to answer this question, not just for myself but also for the people I work with. After deep soul-searching, I found the answer. Here’s what I realized: True transformation comes from insight—not force
It’s about seeing the world—and yourself—in a new way. The best coaching I ever received worked because it gave me this insight: I create my feelings with my own mind so they cannot harm meThis changed everything. I realized that if I could handle my emotions, other people could handle theirs, too. Suddenly, I could set boundaries without guilt. I stopped saying “yes” out of obligation, and my relationships became freer, lighter, and more meaningful. This year, I found an even deeper insight: I live in a thought-created realityI am always creating my experience; I can change it at any moment by changing how I think about it. When I really, really saw this, everything shifted. If I felt betrayed or let down by that lousy and costly coaching experience, I was choosing to feel that way. The moment I understood that, my experience changed. This insight has also transformed my coaching. Now, my clients experience massive breakthroughs, and they happen quickly. Why? Because transformation starts inside, not with action plans or “tough love.” My job as a coach is straightforward: To help people see that they are the creators of their experience—and that they can change it. Stick around if you are looking for insights and fresh perspectives to help you create more joy, clarity, and groundedness in your life and business. That challenging coaching experience? It was part of my journey, a crucible that burned away the doubts and distractions that no longer served me. Because coaching, done right, is indeed life-changing. |
